Character Interviews
with Stacy Eaton
Today we have Justin McNear with us from Mocked by Faith written by Michele Richard.
Another awesome Character Interview is up today and I'm excited to have our guest with us. Hope you all enjoy your time with us!
Justin, welcome! Tell us about yourself!
My name is Justin McNear and I’m English. I come from a gated community in England and I have moved to Minnesota where the books are set because my wife’s family is from The Gates.
I love English men... (sigh)... So what is the book about?
The title Mocked by Faith can confuse people into thinking it’s a book about religion. That’s not what the story is about at all.
Thank you for clarifying that, I did think it had something to do with that.

What it’s really about is how Alexia, my gorgeous wife and my marriage was arranged.
Arranged?
Yes, we do follow an obscure form of Christianity; however the story is about the trials and tribulations of finding our soul mates and not killing each other in the process. Believe me there are times when I’m sure the readers will want to yell at us, beat us up, and cry when we don’t listen to them.
lol.... That's funny! Keep talking.. I love your accent.
It’s never easy saying “I do” to someone you don’t know. I should know; we did it. We were both well on our way to being the first two in our gated communities to be unwed when my father stumbled upon Alexia. After two years of being denied marriage contracts we both were left seriously out of sorts by the process.
That all sounds very complicated.
When my past at the Revirgining Retreat catches up with me, my wife has to be the one to help me see my way back to our marriage and faith. Our love story doesn’t always flow smoothly. We’re only eighteen in the first book and we act accordingly, but as the story progresses so do we.
Revirgining Retreat? lol... this sounds awesome!
Our first year of marriage is harder on us than most. We suffer some pretty traumatic losses. I’ll be the first to admit, we make a lot of mistakes on our journey. I have a nasty habit of being wrong. Alexia’s a little strong willed compared to those inside our male dominated world.
You guys are young - of course you make mistakes. Tell me Justin, what would you want differently about yourself?
One wish? I’ll have to say I wish I’d been more suave and debonair. In the first book I was a lot less confident with my wife. Granted I knew nothing about her when we said I do, and we were only eighteen at the time, but you always want to be like one of those twits in the romance books. I would have loved to give Alexia one of those swept off her feet kind of love stories.
lol..... I know exactly what you mean.
If you could have added something to the story, and your creator would have let you, what would that have been?
A little time to get to know my wife before we said “I do” would have been nice. But I understand that since I had been at the retreat it wasn’t possible.
What do you love best about yourself? What do you like least?
Best would have to be: my devotion to my wife. The least I’ll have to say is my jumping to the wrong conclusions.
Oh wow! A man admitting he jumps to conclusions! That is so awesome!
What part of the book was the hardest for you and your creator to work through?
The loss of my son, Kaiden was hands down the hardest part of the three books.
Wow... yeah... that would be hard to deal with.
Is there a sequel for this book?
Michele has just finished the last part of our journey. She had intended to only write just one book, but in the end, it took three books to tell our whole story from beginning to end. We were a chatty bunch. She was gracious enough let us scream in her head until she wrote the full story.
Brave woman! I know what it feels like to have voices in your head trying to get out.
Justin thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed your time with us and I hope everyone takes the time to check out more about your book.
